Virtual Encounters
On the Silk Road
Christine Coulange and Nchan Manoyan, video artists and composers, propose a way of listening to the world, a visual and sonic experience in touch with the intensity of reality. In 1999, the Silk Road project took them from Marseille to Shanghai for six months. Far from Western zapping, they gathered testimonies and visions with the desire to transform these fragments of experience and share, with all the senses, the ceremonies of Tibetan monks, the colors of the Kashga Bazaar where Uyghurs, Afghans, Pakistanis, Uzbeks, Kazakhs, Kirghiz, Mongolians... meet.
